'For me, the arts are about helping people to overcome the burden of the sameness of everyday life. It is about asking questions, exciting minds, making us think... Sometimes it is the slap in the face that makes us come to ourselves, forces us out of our routine. Art asks us the questions: *are there opinions other than those that you and your circle have about some things? *what is really important for you and for the civilization? *what is beautiful? *what makes you pore over that piece of art? I attach great importance to the audience's opinion of the artists and their work. And, finally, it is great that the arts can just embellish our every day and our entire life.' 'I completely agree with the statement that abstraction is the purity of art. It is the simplicity, clarity and certain ‘monochromaticism’ that make abstract works exceptionally impressive. The only criteria is that the work should not leave the viewer unimpressed.' As Picasso put it, ‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’.
