St.Petersburg artist Sergey Konopelko is a representative of intellectual art. He undertook the typical way for the person of his ages, getting a good classical education at the faculty of Philology of Leningrad state University, achieved high social and financial status, received degrees in different fields of knowledge and successfully realized the formula of " son-house-tree", reaching the" half-way "for Dante" decided to start creativity & his travell experience around the art museums of the world helped him to form good taste.
The intellectual art is characterised by the fact that conveys in an artistic way not only surrounding reality, but the thoughts , philosophizing about the basic concepts of our life: birth and death, youth and old age, joy, enthusiasm, recklessness and fear at the same time, innocence and sophistication, love and hate, epicureanism and the disease and much, much more more.
The beginning of creativity belongs to the end of 80-ies of the last century, when the artist's creative nature began to demand expression. At the time the preference was given to music. So, Sergei Konopelko engaged in music composing, studying music theory,creating of musical compositions, seriously performed jazz. But during this creative period, being the grandson of the artist, Sergei directed his attention towards the art as a form of expression of his creative potention.
Long time will past untill the artist take a brush & for the question "why",he will answer" I had nothing to say,I restarted my creativity,when my experiences overfilled me & desire to share became unbearable."
Each work is a small story about the basic life statements.A prepaired viewer will find a humour,nostalgie,drama& very careful optimism.The canvas composition is very simple not to turn off from the main phylosophical mind of the artist.
As the object of intellectual painting are the minds of the artist-the form of depicting is unusual also-naive,abstracts,expressionism & impressionism.
