Tatiana Plaksin was born in 1989 in Los Angeles, grew up between the United States, and Moscow, Russia, and has been surrounded by art in one form or another her entire life. Алthough she has been painting for a relatively short time, all of her creative pursuits and internal processes have been leading her to this particular form of expression for many years- and so in a sense, she has been painting all her life, recreating and reimagining the world around her through image-making, helping her to interpret existence in a way that speaks to the particularities of her soul. Born into a musical family, she studied classical piano from an early age and was immersed in the world of the world’s great composers, playing, listening, studying the music of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Scriabin, and others, and it was her experience with music that moved her to express herself in different ways: writing, singing, theater, dance, as well as studying different schools of esoteric thought and immersing herself in yoga and mediation practice, traveling the world to study with different masters in the last decade- to know more directly the creative impulse within her that was initially triggered through music. To this day, music remains the driving force behind all of her creations- the impulse for each painting is born from the dynamic synergy of music, and fueled by her unique life experience, having traveled the world from an early age, she has lived in four countries, and speaks five languages. In 2011, she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in upstate New York with a degree in the liberal arts. Whilst there, she immersed herself in the humanitarian disciplines, studying Romance languages, ancient philosophy the history of religions, Russian literature, as well as taking courses in painting and art history, diving into the rich cultural life of New York City where she lived for three and a half years. She spent a summer in Argentina, where she began reading and translating Spanish poetry. Dedicating herself to painting in the last few years, she sees it as a natural evolution, now that she has arrived at a sufficient maturity which allows her to synthesize her life experience and to extract from it what she has found to be most essential and enduring.
