Yellow fantasy

01.07.2019 - 30.11.2020
Yellow fantasy is a series of works, created as a supplement for the grandiose project of a Russian museum “Abstract Art in Russia XX century“. Russian Museum distributed all artists, displayed on the grandiose project, between the SPB galleries & Simon Gulyako ‘s works were delegated to the oldest SPB gallery S.P.A.S All this works were united under the working title “The house of an hangman”. Those, who know sufferings of creative work, will understand me. It is strange, but this typical expressionistic topic was not specially shown by any artist may be except Van Gouge, who had exhibited his own cut ear. We can see the artist’s sufferings only hypothetically in their works. Suffering of people with mental diseases, ”small person”, children, beggars and even courtiers were reflected in the art of the past. But the artists fail over the mention their own torments. Faulse modesty? Arrogance? The public sees only the fruits of artist’s great activity, the product purified and ready for use. But how is the artist constructed? Recollections and art critic ‘s Talmuds will help to reconstruct the realities of artist’s life. For example, the artist was a drinker but we will never know why did he do this & what deformations did his brain & body felt. I think Simon Gulyako found his own topic in Art. It is the artist’s pain. It is a bloody flesh, which takes up a strike to itself, a flesh which is crossed by the rails of spiritual way. Therefore, I think, there are so much black & red colors, the colors of pain, in his works. It is said, that abstraction is not attach to any thing, but normal person is not believe to this. Abstraction picture, in the case of Kandinsky & Gulyako, is abstract only in the meaning that it doesn’t copy the visual diagrams of visible realitiy. It is attached to another world and speaks the language of nonverbal symbols and vague associations, the language of the soul. In any case, it is a binary code. It is horizontal & vertical line, it is the color & absence of color. “Hangman’s road” is not the game conception, it is the topic.
